Transgender actress Holly Woodlawn has passed away after a long battle with cancer.   Known for her starring roles in Andy Warhol’s 1970’s iconic films ‘Trash’ and ‘Women in Revolt’, Woodlawn was diagnosed with liver and brain cancer in June this year. ***image2***Her status as one of the ‘Warhol Superstars’ and her story of running away from home and hitchhiking to New York famously inspired the first verse of Lou Reed’s 1972 hit song ‘Walk on the Wild Side’: “Holly came from Miami FLA, Hitchhiked her way across the USA, Plucked her eyebrows on the way, Shaved her legs and then he was a she…” Woodlawn most recently appeared in the series Transparent.
