Transgender Day of Remembrance service AKL

Sat 21 Nov 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Rainbow Youth in partnership with Trans on Campus and Gender Bridge will be hosting a service at St Matthew in the City this Monday to mark the Transgender Day of Remembrance   The service is to remember the passing of transgender and gender-variant individuals and to raise awareness of the threat of violence and prejudice felt by all members of our community. The Transgender Day of Remembrance has been marked around the world each year on 20 November, since 1999. It is a day to raise public awareness of hate crimes against trans people, provide a space for public mourning and honour the lives of those trans people who might otherwise be forgotten.
