Underwear designed to absorb menstrual blood for cis-women has had a redesign to become more trans- friendly. After getting feedback from many transgender men who assured Thinx that cis women were not the only people who may benefit from it’s underwear, the brand has taken it upon themselves to become more trans-friendly. Changing it’s tagline from “For Women with Periods” in an email to “For People with Periods” the company has acknowledged that “menstruation is not a trait of, nor a defining factor of, a specific gender.” Thinx have also posted an extensive list of gender terms on it’s blog, encouraging people to educate themselves. Taking part in Transgender Awareness Week Thinx also talk about the launch of a new design: “the boyshort, AKA our newest pair of undies specifically designed to have a more gender-neutral aesthetic better-suited for people who menstruate but don’t identify as female, such as trans men.”
