Hosts sought for acclaimed gay UK Professor

RainbowYOUTH is currently seeking expressions of interest from those interested in hosting Professor William Spurlin of Brunel University, London, who will be in New Zealand for a speaking tour focusing on lesbian and gay persecution under the Nazi regime during the Holocaust. Spurlin will be in New Zealand for a 15 day speaking tour of the country in March, RainbowYOUTH together with the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand are asking for LGTBI organisations interested in hosting the widely acclaimed Professor to get in touch. Professor Spurlin has written extensively on the politics of gender and sexual dissidence and is widely known for his work on queer theory. He is Chair of the Comparative Gender Studies Committee at the International Comparative Literature Association (ICLA), and he is Section Editor for the journal Postcolonial Text. The acclaimed Professor has also given invited lectures across the globe, in China, South Africa, Singapore, North America and Europe. Situated at the nexus of queer studies, postcolonial studies, and critical and cultural theory, Spurlin’s interdisciplinary research encompasses the analysis of a broad range of literary, cultural, and critical texts spanning from the end of the 19th century through to the 21st century. Spurlin will be available for academic lectures, public lectures, workshops and seminars and school visits.
