Mon 30 Sep 2002 In: New Zealand Daily News

An openly gay man is getting media attention as he competes to become the Cleo Bachelor of the Year. Michael Pattison, 21, has been openly gay since he was 15, and says he was just as open in answering the questions that have made him one of the 15 finalists in Cleo magazine`s bachelor of the year competition. His previous titles include Mr Gay Wellington and Mr Drag Wellington. Cleo magazine has no concerns about their unusual contestant, despite being initially aware he was a Mr Gay Wellington.
