Two HIV cases will be tried next year

Tue 27 Oct 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The trial of an Auckland man charged over the infection of another man with HIV will not be held until next year following delays in the defense lawyer receiving medical records relating to several witnesses. The lack of full medical records mean an expert medical witness has not yet been able to prepare material for the defense case. All details of both the complainant and the defendant remain under suppression order and bail conditions for the defendant have been continued. The case is expected to take six days. Meanwhile, a second but unrelated Auckland case involving alleged exposure to HIV, for which there are three complainants, will also be tried in the Auckland District Court next year. Suppression of all names and details of that case also remain in place.
