Gay man dead, husband critical after crash

The crash scene on Satueday night (Pic: Stuff) A gay man is dead and his husband remains in critical condition in hospital after a horror car crash in Christchurch at the weekend. Police have today released details on the crash in which Aliielua Fesili Salaivao, 38, drove his car the wrong way up Salisbury Street near Durham Street and collided with another car late Saturday night Salaivao died at the scene, the two men in the Audi car he hit were rushed to Christchurch Hospital's intensive care unit. One of the injured men, understood to be in his 40s, has now died while his husband remains in a critical condition. Neither man has been formally named at this stage. Although the identities of the victims are beginning to circulate in the glbti communities GayNZ.com Daily News cannot name the men until their names are formally released by the Christchurch Police.
