Islamic State (ISIS) militants have reportedly executed a number of men in Iraq who they believed were gay. The most recent reports are of the deaths of two men on Sunday who were blindfolded and thrown from the top of a building in Mosul, a city 400km north of Baghdad. ARA News reports that ISIS has executed dozens of allegedly gay men in its areas of control in Syria and Iraq in recent months. An eyewitness who spoke to the news outlet says; “On Sunday afternoon, Daesh (ISIS) called on the people of Mosul to gather in the square of Bab al-Toub in order to witness the execution of the two allegedly men. “The victims were taken to the top of a building and were brutally thrown off the roof.” Civil rights activist Raed Ahmed told ARA News; “Although the Islamic law bans homosexuality, the brutal punishment by Daesh has never been witnessed throughout history.”
