K’ Rd Community Safety Group say there is soon to be an increased police presence on the Auckland strip. The news comes amidst concerns of safety for members of the LGBT community following the alleged assault on community personality, Tux Hika. The K’ Rd Community Safety team are meeting with Patrols NZ in three weeks to further discuss safety on the strip. Karen Richie and Gerard Marychurch are also set to meet a security team leader from the South Auckland who is patrolling volatile areas in the Southern suburbs. The group says it has been told of two other assaults in the last two weeks and greater police presence is paramount to community safety.
