The Gay Auckland Business Association’s annual charity auction will return to the Hilton on Princes Wharf in November and the group is calling for items to go under the hammer. Grants totalling $22,675 have been handed out after last year's "Big Splash" themed auction It will be a Sunday afternoon affair on 15 November, from midday. The entertainment line-up will be announced early next month, with tickets available to the public from mid-October. The black tie event is the primary fundraiser for the GABA Charitable Trust, which has distributed community grants and scholarships now amounting to almost $300,000 across the last 15 years. Grants totalling $22,675 have been distributed to a range of lgbti community groups, individuals and initiatives since last year’s auction. The GABA Charitable Trust also awarded four tertiary scholarships, in partnership with AUT University, to help young lgbti students through their first year of full-time study.
