Hamilton Pride begins tonight with a launch party – and all are welcome. “This is the all-inclusive launch party for Hamilton Pride Week 2015 – a great chance for everyone in the LGBTTQIA community and our friends to get together in a casual party atmosphere to be proud, to have a dance and to see what else we might want to go to during the week,” the Hamilton Pride team says. It’s being held at the Meteor on Victoria St from 7pm-11pm, and entry is by gold coin donation. There will be an art exhibition and performances throughout the evening from Miss Ribena, Daughters of Ally and others. Pop artist Patty Boy’s drag alter-ego Phawn D’Nelle is also expected to launch a new single. Pride is held every year in the Waikato city, and is run by Hamilton Pride Incorporated, which is all about supporting and celebrating the diversity of lgbttiq people in the region. Tomorrow there will be a 'Diver-city' family picnic at Hamilton Gardens at midday, with ten pin bowling at SkyCity at 6PM that night. On Sunday 13 September there will be a Doggy Day Out at Hamilton Lake Domain from 9.30AM, at a Pride Lunch at Blissful Healthy Vegan Takeaway in Te Rapa at midday. There will be workshops on inclusion featuring Green MP Mojo Mathers in the afternoon on Monday 14 September, while A Different Conversation will take one of its discussions on religion and sexuality to Hamilton for the first time that night. On Wednesday 16 September UniQ Waikato sex educator Louise Bourchier will host a workshop on pleasure at Waikato University, promising to teach “the ins and outs of sexual anatomy to better understand how everything works, and to maximise pleasure”. A Gays Go Global pot luck dinner will celebrate cultural diversity on 17 September, while the annual fun and competitive Queer Women’s Quiz will also be held that night. The Hamilton Pride teams meets every fourth Wednesday a month at Link House, 2 Dawson St, Hamilton East, and everyone is welcome. Regular ‘Pink Drinks’ are also open to all – find out more about all Hamilton Pride's events on its website- Thanks to Camera Man for the pictures.
