Wellington to farewell Body Positive

The closure of Body Positive Wellington will bring an end to the long service of Ron Irvine Rainbow Wellington will host thank you drinks on Friday for the staff, volunteers and users of HIV peer support organisation Body Positive, which is closing its office in the capital due to funding constraints. The Courtenay Place office will remain open until the end of the month, but after that long-time staffer Ron Irvine's office manager job will disappear. The organisation faces a financial shortfall of $75,000 and its main Auckland office will also be downsized as part of cost-saving measures. Rainbow Wellington is inviting the community to head along to Ivy Bar on Cuba St from 5PM-7PM Friday, to share condolences and show solidarity. “Ron Irvine in particular has dedicated eight years of service and we would like to wish him luck for the next step in his career. “Let us also have a great time together to reflect on how Body Positive – Wellington is a needful and crucial service that supported a lot of individuals, groups and the greater Wellington community.” Body Positive Thank You Drinks: Friday, September 11, 2015 5pm-7pm Ivy Bar, 49 Cuba St
