Range of events planned for Hamilton Pride

Hamilton Pride Week will be launched with a party on Friday 11 September, with a family picnic, quiz night, doggy day out and workshop on pleasure among the events announced so far. Picture thanks to Camera Man Pride is held every year in the Waikato city, and is run by Hamilton Pride Incorporated, which is all about supporting and celebrating the diversity of lgbttiq people in the region. This year’s events will be launched with a party at The Meteor on Victoria St on 11 September, from 7PM. The following day there will be a 'Diver-city' family picnic at Hamilton Gardens at midday, with ten pin bowling at SkyCity at 6PM that night. On Sunday 13 September there will be a Doggy Day Out at Hamilton Lake Domain from 9.30AM, at a Pride Lunch at Blissful Healthy Vegan Takeaway in Te Rapa at midday. There will be workshops on inclusion featuring Green MP Mojo Mathers in the afternoon on Monday 14 September, while A Different Conversation will take one of its discussions on religion and sexuality to Hamilton for the first time that night. One Wednesday 16 September UniQ Waikato sex educator Louise Bourchier will host a workshop on pleasure at Waikato University, promising to teach “the ins and outs of sexual anatomy to better understand how everything works, and to maximise pleasure”. A Gays Go Global pot luck dinner will celebrate cultural diversity on 17 September, while the annual fun and competitive Queer Women’s Quiz will also be held that night. The Hamilton Pride teams meets every fourth Wednesday a month at Link House, 2 Dawson St, Hamilton East, and everyone is welcome.
