The man who stabbed six people at Jerusalem Pride, including a 16-year-old girl who later died, has been sent to a psychiatric ward to see if he is fit to stand trial. Ultra-Orthodox Jew Yishai Shlissel was released from jail just weeks before the stabbings, after having served a sentence for a similar attack ten years ago which left three Pride marchers wounded. Shlissel has stated he does not recognise the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court’s authority and is refusing to be represented by a lawyer. "You do not have jurisdiction, it is not by the laws of the holy Torah," he claimed in court. Meanwhile posters have popped up in Jerusalem signed by a group calling itself "The Faithful Jewry" praising Shlissel as a messenger of the people and of God. Other posters have popped up in response, condemning the attack, by another group also signing off as "The Faithful Jewry".
