Tap runs dry at Auckland alcohol-free bar

Sun 9 Aug 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

An attempt to run New Zealand’s first dry bar hasn’t been met with enough support from the public to stay afloat. The owner of Auckland's Family Bar opened a new unlicensed venue on K’ Rd just over a month ago, called T.A.P which stands for “The After Party”. It was both gay and straight friendly. Not serving alcohol allowed it to stay open till 8am. However it hasn’t drawn enough customers, so its manager is now seeking a liquor licence instead, to turn it into a general nightclub.
