Craig considering another run at mayoralty

Sun 2 Aug 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News

Anti-gay ex Conservative Party leader Colin Craig is now considering another tilt at the Auckland mayoralty. He finished behind Len Brown and John Banks in the 2010 race, getting more than 40,000 votes. Craig has told Stuff.co.nz he has been asked on more than one occasion to run for mayor and he sees a strong constituency for a conservative, particularly a fiscally conservative, candidate to run in Auckland. "I was born here and I love the city. As a party we have always had some clear policies about sorting Auckland out, starting by reducing rates," he said. Craig was forced to step down as leader of the Conservative Party over allegations of sexual harassment in relation to his former press secretary.
