Crab trouble ends rowers' world cup hopes

Mon 13 Jul 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News

Robbie Manson and new rowing partner Chris Harris’ strong start to the international season has been interrupted by a crab. After making it through to the A Final at their first hit out on the world stage, World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne, they finished sixth due to catching a crab on their oars. The technical glitch put them out of contention. New Zealand has a strong event and took out the World Rowing Series. Manson and Harris will next be in action at next month's world championships in France, as they build up to the Olympics. Manson was one of New Zealand's most high-profile male athletes to come out publicly, when he spoke out about his sexuality late last year. The Olympian told GayNZ.com he has always looked up to gay role models and wanted to come out in the hope it would make others' paths easier too.
