DHBs seek feedback on trans healthcare

Community forums will be held in south, west and central Auckland for input on a proposal to improve health services for transgender people in the northern region. The Northland, Waitemata, Auckland and Counties Manukau District Health Boards are working together to develop better care for people who want support with transitioning, or questions about their gender identity. The DHBs also want improve general health services for gender diverse and transgender people. They say an advisory group with transgender representatives and clinicians who work in the areas of primary care, child and youth health, sexual health, mental health, surgery and endocrinology has been developing a draft service specification, and wants feedback on from the wider transgender community. This will then be developed further into a proposal for consideration by the DHB Boards later this year All those with an interest in this work are encouraged to attend the upcoming forums.
