Conservative Party dance goes on

Tue 30 Jun 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News

Colin Craig is still considering a comeback The Conservative Party is now electing a whole new board, casting aside the one which held a meeting and revoked Colin Craig’s party membership over the weekend. After all the party’s board members other than John Stringer resigned, Stringer created his own board. However Craig now says the party is electing a new board, and Stringer’s was never valid as his own membership has been suspended. It’s just the latest to and fro from a party which has numerous members with anti-lgbti views, including Craig himself who believes being gay is abnormal and he could choose to be gay if he wished. The morals campaigner resigned as leader of the party he founded after admitting unspecified inappropriate behaviour with his press secretary. Craig says he is still considering a comeback. “I am interested in representing people and as long as I have their support I am happy to keep going” he says in a statement today. Meanwhile discussion is underway about lifting a disclosure agreement in regards to the circumstances surrounding the departure of his former press secretary.
