Family opening new after hours 'dry bar'

Thu 18 Jun 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The owner of Auckland's Family Bar is opening a new unlicensed venue on K’ Rd, which will stay open till 8am. Following a public vote on a number of options, it will be called T.A.P which stands for “The After Party”, and open at midnight and close at 8am. The bar won't be specifically gay, with all welcome, in the vein of the former Supper Club which stayed open till after sunrise and was popular with an early morning crowd. Family jokes the space will cater to those “doing the dance of the desperates” on the foot path at 4am when the club closes, saying they will be able to continue trying their luck in an unlicensed venue. T.A.P. will just be a few doors down from Family, which is itself about to have a facelift.
