Aussies to rally for free marriage vote

Sat 30 May 2015 In: International News View at Wayback

A rally will be held in Sydney tomorrow calling for Australian MPs to have a free vote on marriage equality. Australia's opposition leader will put a same-sex marriage Bill before the House of Representatives on Monday. Prime Minister Tony Abbott has indicated he will allow a free vote, or what is called a conscience vote in New Zealand, for Liberal MPs, as long as it is in response to a cross-party bill. The Greens, who have their own bill, have called for a cross-party meeting. Tomorrow marriage equality supporters and politicians will gather at Taylor Square in Sydney calling for a free vote.
