Luxembourg's Prime Minister has become just the second leader in the world to marry a same-sex partner. Xavier Bettel has wed architect Gauthier Destenay in a town hall ceremony. Bettel is Luxembourg's first openly gay prime minister. The country approved same-sex marriage laws in June 2014. Bettel told media he could have hidden his sexuality and been unhappy his whole life. "But I told myself that if you want to be a politician and be honest in politics, you have to be honest with yourself and accept that you are who you are." Bettel follows in the footsteps of Iceland's former Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir, who was her nation's leader when she married her same-sex partner in 2010.
