Sat 16 May 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Urzila Carlson has been nominated for The FRED Award, which honours the best show by a New Zealand comedian. Her show Man Up is up against Dai Henwood's Daigression and Jamie Bowen's Head Goes Bang. The FRED Award is named in honour of legendary Kiwi comedy character Fred Dagg. The winner gets a 'golden gumboot' and a $7,500 prize package. The final part of the judging process will take place at the final event of the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, Last Laughs, at SkyCity Theatre this Sunday night. The 2015 Billy T Award will also be announced, with gay comedian Eli Matthewson among the finalists. That winner will get the coveted Yellow Towel, a $4,000 cash grant from the New Zealand Comedy Trust, a spot on TV3's 7 Days, clothing and advertising dollars. The five nominees for the 2015 Billy T Award are Eli Matthewson, Hamish Parkinson, Nic Sampson, Matt Stellingwerf, and Tim Batt.
