Pop star Miley Cyrus has revealed she hasn’t always been in "straight, heterosexual" relationships. The 22-year-old, who most recently dated Patrick Schwarzenegger, made the statement while promoting lgbti youth and homeless charity the Happy Hippie Foundation. She told The Associated Press that the organisation meant a lot to her because her past relationships hadn't all been "straight, heterosexual" ones. Cyrus also spoke about the charity’s dual importance because a high proportion of those who have no home come from the lgbt community, due to not being accepted by their families. She told Out “I’m fighting for people I don’t know,” she explained, “but it’s also a fight for people I do know, and people I’m close to and love.” Cyrus added she has spent a lot of time struggling with traditional gender expectations - and being resentful that she was a girl. “I didn’t want to be a boy,” she said. “I kind of wanted to be nothing. I don’t relate to what people would say defines a girl or a boy, and I think that’s what I had to understand: Being a girl isn’t what I hate, it’s the box that I get put into.”
