Kenya's deputy president says there is no room for gay people in the Commonwealth nation. William Ruto told a church service in Nairobi on Sunday "The Republic of Kenya is a republic that worships God. We have no room for gays.” His spokesperson has confirmed the comments to Reuters and added "The government believes that homosexual relations are unnatural and un-African." Being gay is taboo in Kenya, and sex between men is illegal under a colonial era law. Kenya’s High Court recently overturned a decision to deny a prominent gay rights group’s bid to register as an NGO.
