"I am a woman" - Jenner speaks out

Sat 25 Apr 2015 In: International News View at Wayback

Bruce Jenner has come out as transgender, telling Diane Sawyer in a just-aired interview in the US “I am a woman”. Jenner said the interview would be the last conducted under the name Bruce, but specifically asked Sawyer to use male pronouns and the name Bruce - saying females pronouns would come later. “People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life - it is part of me,” the 65-year-old said. “That female side is part of me. That's who I am.” The former Olympian actually began hormone treatment in the 1980s, but stopped due to religious beliefs and a fear of ‘embarrassing'their children.
