Pakistan: Arrests over horrific trans attack

Wed 22 Apr 2015 In: International News View at Wayback

[Content warning] Six men have been arrested over the murders of two trans women and gang rape of another in Northern Pakistan. The Nation Pakistan reports the three women were returning home after performing a music and dance show at a wedding reception earlier this month, when they set upon by men who were ‘fans’ of their performances. District police chief Sajjad Khan says the men were waiting for them in a field in Swabi and tried to abduct all of them but they refused. “The attackers opened fire after the refusal.” He says two women died on the spot while another was wounded. The injured woman was abducted and has told police she was gang-raped by four men, before eventually being set free. Police have arrested six men and charged them with murder and gang-rape.
