File Photo Nominations are open for Auckland Council awards which celebrate young people, youth workers and youth organisations making positive contributions to their communities. The I Am Auckland Awards are a Youth Advisory Panel initiative, which honour people aged under 24 and groups and people supporting them. “Young people play a vital part in making Auckland the world’s most liveable city,” says Youth Advisory Panel Chair Flora Apulu. “The I Am Auckland Awards recognise passionate, dedicated young people going above and beyond in their communities, and the teachers, youth workers and mentors supporting them to make a difference.” Mayor Len Brown says the awards are about recognising the contribution of young people “as we work to make Auckland the best very best it can be”. To nominate a young person, youth organisation or youth worker use the online form here Nominations close midday on Monday 11 May. Winners will be announced at an awards evening in May.
