Updated: Vacancies on Akl Pride board

Fri 17 Apr 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News

Auckland Pride Festival Inc is looking for new board members. It’s particularly looking for people who have skill in the areas of human rights, community relationships, finance and accounting, governance, HR management, digital infrastructure and delivery, sponsorship, PR and marketing. The Auckland Pride Parade is a cornerstone event of the festival. Board members are appointed for a three-year term, with some expiring in alternating years, renewable for a maximum of three terms. The Auckland Pride Festival governing body says this structure ensures stability and continuity of business for the organisation. It's not clear whether current board members are stepping down or have wrapped up their terms, or the organisation is simply seeking extra members. It’s asking for anyone with any of the above skills and a passion for the rainbow community to send their CV, along with a letter about themselves to info@aucklandpridefestival.org.nz no later than Monday 11 May 2015. Three Auckland Pride Festivals have been held so far, and next year's coincides with the Asia Pacific Outgames being held in the city. 1.15PM UPDATE: GayNZ.com Daily News understands from a usually reliable source that Board chair Megan Cunningham-Evans has stood down, having come to the end of her term on the board which is limited to three consecutive years by Pride's constitution. It is understood that she stood down on March 31st. Questions sent to Pride this morning from GayNZ.com Daily News asking for background information on their call for new members have yet to elicit a reply.
