A US mega church whose leader’s preaching appears regularly on New Zealand television claims Pokemon was designed to “turn” youths gay. The Creflo Dollar Ministry has reportedly released a ‘study’ claiming teens of the late 80s and 90s “had their sexuality warped by Ash and his fruity friends.” Televangelist Pastor Creflo Dollar says the close relationship between Ash and Brock was a sign of the cartoon’s “gay agenda”. He claims that many of the Pokemon are phallic in nature causing those who watch the cartoon or play the game to desire phallic shapes. Creflo Dollar’s preaching is on TV2 in New Zealand early every weekday morning. The anti-gay pastor, who leads a lavish lifestyle, recently tried crowdfunding to by a $65 million jet, after his old jet ran off a runway. He asked church members for $300 each. The campaign was dropped after backlash. In 2012 he was accused of choking and hitting his own 15-year-old daughter after he forbade her to attend a party. He denied the accusation, and charges were dropped after he attended an anger-management programme.
