A fundraising page has been set up to cover the funeral costs of a single gay man who is losing his battle with cancer. You can make a donation here Conrad Jason Hardy’s illness took away his capacity to earn and there are no savings for his funeral. At a lack of any formal group which can help in such situations, friends are asking individual community members to help out if they can. “Last year Conrad was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of Thyroid Cancer. Whilst treatment slowed the tumour growth and afforded Conrad some quality of life, he was unable to go back to work and eventually the ferocity of the cancer overcame Conrad's ability to fight the invader,” says friend David Skelton on the Givealittle fundraising page. “As this page is being created Conrad is drawing his last breaths, his death is imminent. His day to day living expenses over the last year have depleted his savings.” The 57-year-old grew up in Tauranga, and has worked in hotels and hospitality in Wellington and Auckland. He has also been a member of the committee and Judges Liaison at the Auckland Spaniel Club. Just over $500 of the target of up to $10,000 has been raised so far.
