Cathy Casey backing Rainbow Panel plan

Wed 18 Mar 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Auckland Community Development and Safety Committee chair, Councillor Cathy Casey, is supportive of a proposed Rainbow Panel for Auckland Council, which will be discussed when the Committee meets this afternoon. The advisory panel would be similar to the Council’s current disability, Pacific, ethnic, youth and seniors advisory panels, and would provide a voice for lgbti Aucklanders. Casey says that the creation of the panel will provide an important voice for the community in the same way other communities are represented. “I want to ensure we have the widest possible representation on the panel of the GBLTI community,” she says. “We have a responsibility to represent all groups within Auckland and this is an important step in that process.” The meeting is at 1.30pm Wednesday, Level 26, 135 Albert Street, and is open to the public.
