Otago University Students Association Diversity Week is an annual event aimed at raising awareness and visibility of sex, sexuality and gender diversity on campus. Tuesday 24 March Seminar on the Wellbeing of Queer and Questioning Students on campus lead by Dr. Melanie Beres. 1pm – 3pm, St. David Lecture Theatre 1 Campus Climate for LGBTAQ Students at the University of Otago. Dr. Melanie Beres, Senior Lecturer in Sociology, will present the preliminary findings of a 2014 survey investigating the experiences of LGBTAQ students on campus. 50 Shades of Not Okay 7.30pm – 9.30pm, Otago Room of the OUSA Recreation Centre A consent and safety focused BDSM 101.A brief introduction to the wonderful world of BDSM, with a particular focus on kink-specific consent and safety issues (and why everyone's favourite Valentine's Day movie is a bit rubbish). Wednesday 25 March Poetry Slam Workshop Otago Room of the OUSA Recreation Centre An introduction to the writing and performance of slam poetry, led by Kerry and Toa. Toa describes themself as a stray fledgling who loves to create, while Kerry spends too much time cultivating an air of vaguely threatening mystique to describe themself at all. Thursday 26 March The Queerest Tea Party 12pm – 2pm, Link Courtyard FREE tea, coffee and sweet treats for all! We are also running The Queerest Cupcake Bake-Off.
