In the wake of the NXT 15 youth conference held during the Auckland Pride Festival a delegate to the conference is to be chosen to attend a youth conference in New York. Delegates to the NXT 15 conference have been invited to put their names forward and one will be chosen to attend the annual youth conference of the Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth (LIGALY) organisation in October. The US Embassy in New Zealand, which sponsored NXT 15 and its predecessor last year is contributing to travel costs. The successful delegate will be hosted by LIGALY, says its Chief Executive David Kilmnick, and will also have time to "get involved in the day to day stuff of our organisation. Kilmnick was the keynote speaker at NXT 15. LIGALY, he says, is a major gay community organisation "with 35 full-time staff and serving over 100,000 people with a variety of services and operating four lgbt community centres." In a reciprocal arrangement a person from LIGALY will be selected to travel to New Zealand next February to attend the NXT 16 conference which will be part of next year's Auckland Pride Festival, held concurrently with the Asia-Pacific OutGames.
