New staff members for RainbowYOUTH

Fri 27 Feb 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

RainbowYOUTH is welcoming two new staff members. Former Wellingtonian Chase Fox is taking over as Fundraising Coordinator from Paul Stevens, who left in late January to take up a permanent secondary school teaching job. “I’m aiming to increase financial support for RainbowYOUTH,” Fox says, “in the hopes that it will give us more capacity to broaden RY’s support for queer and trans young people.” The other new staff member is Morgan Butler, a former facilitator and intern who will draw on their skills in youth work as Support Coordinator. “I’m proud to begin work in a community in the same way that my whānau has,” Butler, originally from Turangi, says. “They have taught me how to respect other’s beliefs and stand true in my own. I’m really excited to bring those values into my job where I’ll work to support young people.” RainbowYOUTH’s General Manager Duncan Matthews says the organisation is really lucky to have found two outstanding people to come on board. “While sad to see Paul Stevens leave us after 18 months and making a huge contribution to the organisation, I’m confident that Chase has the skills to take on the responsibility of funding RainbowYOUTH and grow our partnerships with other organisations nationally.” He says Butler’s promotion into the role of Support Coordinator is an exciting step in growing what it’s able to provide for young people. “Morgan’s natural ability, tertiary training, and enthusiasm are a huge asset to RainbowYOUTH.”
