Urge to have huge final Saturday

Thu 19 Feb 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Urge is planning one of the biggest nights in its 17 year history for its final ever Saturday of operation. The K’ Rd institution is closing up next week, but is promising to go out with a bang. Co-owner Alan Granville says Saturday will be a massive night. "It is happening after the Auckland Pride Parade so already we are expecting big crowds from locals and out-of-towners. It's going to be a very emotional night but we want to celebrate, not commiserate, the end of Urge." A number of factors have led to the bar's demise but the owners are promising to keep going with their Urge Black parties around the country. The bar will open especially on Monday and Tuesday at the earlier time of 6.30pm ahead of the gay Atlantis cruise arriving in town - and the final ever night will be on Friday 27 February.
