Drop of rain possible for Pride Parade

Thu 19 Feb 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

You may want to grab a rainbow umbrella, just in case, for Saturday’s Auckland Pride Parade. Tens of thousands of people are expected to line Ponsonby Rd for Auckland's third annual celebration of diversity. Forecaster Philip Duncan from WeatherWatch.co.nz tells GayNZ.com Daily News  it’s likely to be a mostly cloudy night, “with the chance of a spit or two”. Duncan says it will be humid and fairly dry – at this stage the chance of rain doesn’t appear to be too high. GayNZ.com will have an updated forecast on Saturday, well before the third Auckland Pride Parade makes its way down Ponsonby Rd from 7.30pm. Pride Parade Director Richard Taki says it’s been incredible seeing the inspiration those planning floats have taken from the theme of Gods and Monsters. “The level of detail and research in the float creations is provoking and inspired,” he says. “We have traditional Pacific gods being represented as well as gods of our own, being newly created. The monsters will be there in force also.”
