Some of the cloud is forecast to clear for this afternoon’s Big Gay Out. WeatherWatch.co.nz says there will be sunny areas this afternoon, gentle westerly winds and just a tiny chance of rain in Auckland. MetService says there will be cloudy periods, and light winds. The high is forecast to be 24-25 degrees. The Big Gay Out begins at midday at Coyle Park in Pt Chevalier.There is always a strong political presence, and both Labour leader Andrew Little and Prime Minister John Key are expected to attend today. The Green Party will also have a strong presence, while Auckland Mayor Len Brown will be at the event and is expected to make an announcement of lgbti interest. Other politicians who have signalled they are attending include ACT's David Seymour, who has even whipped up a special image for the occasion: Steven Oates will be the first MC of the day, with an official welcome from Love Your Condom kicking off proceedings. Buffy and Bimbo, Buckwheat and Miss Ribena will be the other MCs this year. There is a range of entertainment on the main stage, where at 2.30pm Mika will launch a new compilation album to raise funds for the Aroha Project. He’ll be followed by one of the day’s big acts, The Hipstamatics. Oates will be back at 3.45pm for the ever-popular dog show. The three Williams siblings will take the stage at 4.35pm. The Big Gay Out will be closed by Cindy of Samoa, as is tradition.
