The best seats in the house have sold out for tonight’s Pride Gala in Auckland, however there are still tickets available. C and D Reserve and ‘Gods’ tickets can be bought here The Gala is the official launch event of Auckland Pride and showcases the work on offer during the Festival. Revered dancer Taane Mete will open the Gala It will be opened by dancer Taane Mete performing a solo piece inspired by Michael Parmenter’s epic 1999 production Jerusalem, to a song by the late Mahinarangi Tocker. He’s told GayNZ.com he feels very honoured. “It’s a very powerful moment for me. Hopefully it will set a reasonable standard for the Gala performance.” The final Gala line-up includes Michael Giacon and Gina Cole, Sani Muliaumaseali’i, Chris Olwage, Wild Blue Yonder, Ramon Te Wake, Lola la Bomb and Kita Mean. There will also be performances from GALS With Pride, Legacy Project: Year Two, Fine Fatale, Heroes Out West, Aroha Project, Live Orgy, Bumpa Love and Buck Wheat. This year’s Gala is being hosted by actors Waimihi Hotere and Hori Ahipene. There will be an official Auckland Pride Festival opening ceremony and a post party with special Pride cocktails.
