The Gay Auckland Business Association’s charitable arm has handed out Auckland Pride Festival participation grants to range of community groups, including the Rotorua Chamber of Pride, OUTLine and the Charlotte Museum. “An overall total of $10,075 has been donated by the GABA Charitable Trust and we are delighted to be able to contribute funds towards these groups to assist them in participating in the festival and the parade,” says Trust Chair Gresham Bradley. The grants help groups like OUTLine take part in the Parade or Festival. The recipients of Pride 2015 Parade Participation Grants, totalling $5,900, are Aotea Drag Kings, Aztec Gods, Rotorua Chamber of Pride, Pasefika LBBTQI, UniQ, Brass Bandits, Jay Tewake and Mika, OUTLine, Body Positive, Charlotte Museum and Rainbow Families. Pride Festival Grants totalling $4,175 have been given to book lovers group Alternative Bindings, Pulse Art, Rainbow Community Church, Breaking Boundaries, Rainbow Youth Ball and TAPAC. A formal announcement will be made at the GABA Mixer tomorrow night at The Oakroom, at Victoria Park Market. The GABA Charitable Trust was established in 1999 with a vision of giving back to the community. The Auckland Pride Festival Grants process is separate from the GABA Community Grants which will be opened on 4 February and will close on 15 March.
