Pooches to strut their stuff in Ponsonby

Tue 3 Feb 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Auckland Pride Festival’s dog show “Woof!” will be held at Ponsonby’s Western Park this year. “I am really happy with the new venue,” says organiser and MC Steven Oates. “It is closer to the city and has more parking and shade for competitors and audience alike. We have great prizes and fabulous judges.” MC Steven Oates and his pup Ruby The event is being held from 2pm on Sunday 15 February on the lower fields of Western Park. Oates says that means a walk down the hill if coming from Ponsonby Rd, or access via from Beresford St West if entering from Freemans Bay. There will be prizes for best dressed, dog and owner lookalike, talent/tricks and the ultimate accolade, Best In Show. Judging the canines in 2015 will be Te Radar, Jacinda Ardern and Anita Wigl'it. Anita says she is looking for 'Glamour, Poise and Luxury' in this year’s competition. “Failing that a diamanté collar and a shiny fur coat usually does the trick for me.” Oates says whether you are entering a furry friend or not, it is going to be a fun-filled, entertaining afternoon. “So get your friends and families (furry and human) together, pack a picnic and head on down to Western Park on Sunday the 15th.” Check out Woof! on Facebook here
