Sun umbrellas are a really good idea for Sunday! The weather is forecast to come to the party for Auckland’s annual Big Gay Out. Philip Duncan from weatherwatch.co.nz tells GayNZ.com Daily News “it's looking great,” for Coyle Park in Pt Chevalier on Sunday. He says high pressure is rolling in and there is just a 10 per cent chance of showers. “The high will be around 27 degrees but may feel more like 30 if the sun is out. Overnight temperatures will be warm too - in the evening it will be around 20 degrees.” Last year more than 14,000 people packed into Coyle Park for the annual lgbti celebration, and organisers Love Your Condom are hoping for an even bigger crowd this weekend. Entertainment will be headlined by talented siblings J, Lavina and Emily Williams, along with Hipstamatics and Brooke Duff. There will be an air-conditioned bus running from outside Family Bar on K’ Rd, to and from the Big Gay Out every 15 minutes from 11.30am to 8pm. Entry to the Big Gay Out is via a gold coin donation. The Big Gay Out is one of the feature events on the 2015 Auckland Pride Festival, which begins on Friday with a Waitangi Day dawn ceremony at Okahu Bay, followed by the Pride Gala on Saturday night. Weatherwatch’s full weekend forecast will be on its website on Tuesday.
