Glbti charity Foundation needs Trustees

Tue 20 Jan 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The Silver Rainbow initiative is among the projects The Rule Foundation has funded. The Rule Foundation, a charity which focuses on the health, wellbeing and visibility of glbti people in New Zealand, is seeking two additional Trustees. The Foundation manages a significant capital fund and uses its income to help a range of volunteer-based lgbti groups. Groups funded so far focus on counselling and information, aged care sector awareness, research, documentation of history, community resource developments and sports and arts activities. It’s been a significant funder of Silver Rainbow, a project which has developed and published an education resource for caregivers of lgbti people in rest homes. Other groups it has supported include Rainbow Youth, Reel Queer, Auckland Women’s Centre, Gay Line Wellington and Schools Out, Intersex Awareness NZ, the Otago University Students Association Queer Support and OUTLine NZ. Applications for funds are received throughout the year and are assessed by the Trustees. The Foundation needs two more Trustees, and is seeking people who have a deep appreciation of contemporary glbti issues. It says experience as a trustee or in another governance role would be valuable, though not essential, “rather we seek your enthusiasm and commitment”. The Rule Foundation is particularly looking for candidates with backgrounds in marketing, finance, fundraising, health, social services or related fields.
