Next month Out in the Park will make its way from Civic Square to its new home at Waitangi Park, in a parade led by divas each representing different eras in our community. With help from the Out in the Park team, we get to know the divas - Dana de Milo, Georgina Beyer, Amanduh la Whore, Lilly Loudmouth and Fifi Fobulous - a little better. Dana de Milo Dana ran away from home at the age of 13 back in 1960 and travelled to Wellington, Te Whanganui a Tara. She worked in the bar scene in many clubs and then eventually moved to Melbourne in 1976, returning back to Wellington in 2003. She has held several support and care positions to help her community over the years, from volunteering as a phone counsellor to working with the Human Rights Commission. It’s important for Dana to help change the way transgender people are treated through barriers that people face on a daily basis. Dana now volunteers part time at the Drugs Health GayNZ.com staff, with Out in the Park - 19th January 2015
