A central Auckland café and bar will be transformed into a hub called ‘XOX Pride’ for the Auckland Pride Festival, featuring drag shows, DJs and live music. Aotea Centre’s Box Café and Bar will be XOX Pride from 5pm till late, every night from 11- 28 February. Its opening night on Wednesday 11 February will feature the Auckland return of rock ‘n’ roll DJ’s Labretta Suede and Johnny Moondog, who have been in New York for six years. There will also be latin beats from DJ Bobby Brazuka and shows by Anita Wig’lt, Tess Tickle and Buckwheat. Others who will play at XOX Pride during the festival include DJ Je M’Appelvis, Tina Turntables, DJ Sloane Ranger and The Banger Sisters. Kita Mean will be among the drag line-up, while performer Jay Chasland will perform a Pride cabaret set, Songs I Shouldn’t Sing, and Lola LaBomb will host a Karaoke Party. XOX Pride will host a special after party following the Auckland Pride Parade on Saturday 21 February.
