Brit military recruits can declare sexuality

Wed 14 Jan 2015 In: International News View at Wayback

British military recruits will be able to declare they are gay, if they wish, in a move designed to help crack down on homophobic bullying. The British Ministry of Defence has stressed recruits can opt out of declaring their sexual preference, adding “we proudly encourage diversity at all levels”. It’s been 14 years since it changed its rules allowing people to be openly-gay while serving in the British armed forces. Gay rights group Stonewall says by knowing more about personnel, the forces can support them better.
