Outgames calls for interest from codes

Mon 12 Jan 2015 In: New Zealand Daily News

A gathering will be held in Auckland next Monday for representatives of sporting codes and organisations to find out more about getting involved in the 2016 Asia Pacific Outgames. The games are being held in Auckland from 13 to 20 February 2016. The Team Auckland Masters Swimmers are already onboard. Organisers have announced a meeting at Marcello’s Caffe, 28 College Hill, Freeman’s Bay, at 6pm on Monday 19 January, so sports organisations can learn more and sign up. “There has been a lot of work over the last few months establishing the Board, the Executive Committee and the administrative framework for the Outgames,” says Sports Director Kent Phillips. “Now it’s time for sports organisations to come on board and make this the most successful Outgames ever.” Outgames Co-chair Martin King says it’s an opportunity for sports organisations to support and celebrate the LGBTI community, healthy lifestyles, sports and human rights. “Top sportspeople, such as rower Robbie Manson, have already shown their support for the Outgames by being involved in the launch of the 2016 Asia Pacific Outgames last month.” Drinks and pizza will be available for purchase at the meeting. RSVP to Kent Phillips, kent.phillips@4apog.com, by 16 January if you are interested in attending.
