Outgames Exec. Committee announced

Mon 22 Dec 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The Executive Committee has been appointed for Auckland’s 2016 Asia Pacific Outgames, and is now on the hunt for sponsors. Some of the Outgames team The Executive Committee members are: • Damien Strogen - Executive Director • Wayne Lockwood – Treasurer • David Gurney – Secretary • Skot Barnett - Director Culture • Ashley Barratt - Director Funding • Kent Phillips - Director Sports • Powhiri Rika-Heke - Director Human Rights • Eric Shang - Director IT/Communications • Reno Verikakis - Director Marketing The Executive will work collaboratively with the Outgames Board. Strogen explains the Outgames organisational structure is slightly different to other organisations in the community. He says the Board sets the strategic direction and provides corporate governance oversight to the Executive Committee, which manages the day-to-day event preparation and delivery. “When you are dealing with a single twelve-month to delivery event that will cost upwards of $1 million, it is important to have robust corporate governance,” Strogen says. The immediate focus will be finding sponsors, with Director of Marketing Reno Verikakis and Director of Funding Ashley Barratt leading this push. “With such a superb event, celebrating health, inclusion and human rights, I’m hoping that many organisations will want to partner with and support the Outgames,” Verikakis says. Organisations interested in sponsoring and participating in the Outgames can find more information on the Outgames website www.4APOG.com. There will also be a function held early in 2015 where organisations interested in sponsoring the event can meet the Outgames Board and Executive Committee.
