Tai Paitai The Auckland Pride Festival has confirmed leaked information which has gone public identifying the new festival director. Ta'i Paitai has been confirmed by Pride co-chair Megan Cunningham-Adams as the replacement for Julian Cook, who resigned from the role. A quick internet search for Paitai shows him identifying himself as a "house sitter, event producer, choreographer, ex-dancer, cook and clean[sic]" (on the Skillpages website) and acting in one 1998 episode of the UK/NZ TV series The Enid Blyton Secret Series (IMDB website). He was also the choreographer for a Taki Rua Maori theatre production of Home Fires starring Rawiri Paratene. Cunningham-Adams says she doesn't know how the information leaked out. She says further information will be formally announced by Pride this Monday as the board had planned.
