Westpac easily scores a Rainbow Tick

Fri 28 Nov 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Westpac has become the first organisation to sail through the Rainbow Tick process, securing the standard on its first attempt. "Westpac’s audit results are outstanding – this is the first time we have audited an organisation and found it already at the required level to achieve certification,” says Rainbow Tick programme director Michael Stevens. The programme is designed to help businesses and organisations to understand what they are doing well in regard to their lgbti staff, and how they can be more welcoming and inclusive. “No other organisation we have worked with has presented such a comprehensive programme of policies and work already in progress,” Stevens says. “It was particularly pleasing to see the genuine commitment to this work from the highest levels of Westpac. It is this type of inclusive leadership that helps enable the organisation perform so well across all these areas.” Westpac’s GM of Human Resources and the Chair of its Diversity Steering Group Su Duffey says they are very proud. “Diversity and inclusiveness is extremely important to us at Westpac, and we believe that attracting and retaining the best talent, and in turn understanding and meeting the needs of our customers can only be met through nurturing a culture that celebrates diversity – ‘you being you’.” Westpac joins SkyCity, ASB, Simpson Grierson and Coca-Cola in being Rainbow Tick certified.
